A Bunch of Bunchems + A Giveaway

Recently, we were challenged to make something from a bunch of Bunchems. What are Bunchems? They're furry colourful plastic balls of fun! A perfect fiddle toy for small hands, they're like giant (soft) prickles which magically stick when you touch them together but when you've finished, you can easily pull them apart and make something new. Basically whatever you can think of, you can create it with Bunchems and create we did!

A Bunch of Bunchems - our new favourite construction toy! Be inspired by all the different ways to play with Bunchems | you clever monkey
Bunchems are a perfect mix of construction toy and craft. Straight out of the box my whole family (yes adults too plus a couple of extra 12 year olds) were kept busy making all afternoon. Honestly you can't help but pick them up and start sticking them together. They have quickly become one of our favourite building materials.

Working as an Early Years teacher, I'm always looking for engaging materials for school and I think Bunchems will make a fantastic classroom resource. They'll make a great manipulative in maths while helping strengthen fine motor skills and providing rich sensory feedback during play for others. I think they'll make great fidget toys for class too. Safety note - Bunchems are small and can become entangled in hair (remember they look like a big prickle) so supervision of young children is always recommended as are ponytails for long hair.

Spending time with my children and creating memories like these are important to me. During our play, we started challenging each other to make different things with the Bunchems. A host of different animals appeared - dogs, cats, penguins, tigers, pandas. Monsters, bats, fairies and scorpions were created. We even made an underwater garden together.

Our floating fish gave us another idea. As a parent I want to encourage my children to think of ways to use toys that aren't always printed on the box they come in. Bunchems make this easy because the more we played, the more ways we could see them being used. Today my cat-loving youngest child and I made this marionette puppet cat from our Bunchems. She's been playing with it all afternoon.
