Literacy centres have been a constant in my classroom timetable over the past few years. Why? Literacy centres are the perfect way to help reinforce early literacy concepts taught previously in a fun and playful way which helps engage every learner. I've posted roundups of literacy centre activities I've used before which have proved popular with the children in my class. You can find all of those activities here and here. I'm always adding to our literacy centre resources and you can always add your name to our email list so you don't miss any more. Today I made these initial sounds match cards ready for class this week as we've been looking at beginning sounds in class.

How to use them?
Simply download the file, print out the cards, laminate them for repeated use then add some letters for students to match up. I love these threadable alphabet beads - they are so versatile and magnetic letters are perfect for this activity too.
